Myisha Cherry delivers her “Genocide Poem” in front of the White House in Washington, DC

Genocide Poem
My Wish-It-Was-Real Dream: A Genocide Poem
By: Myisha Cherry

I had a dream the other night.
I dreamed that America
cried over Africa
Moved the terrorist alert to red
and it was now time to help others

President Bush called a press conference.
Told the World we were going to fight
Genocide,
like we fought against gay marriage
abortion, stem cell research, the fillabuster
fought for Terri Shavoi

We even withdrew our troops from Iraq
and Iraqis praised Allah
The soldiers made a pilgrimage to Sudan
and the Sudanese praised God

As the policemen of the world,
we killed the rebels
dethroned the wicked government
build real estate for the refugees
gave counseling to the raped
Gave clemency to reformed LA gang members
so that they could teach
the country how to love each other

We even stop searching for Bin Laden
and found a healing plan
from experts in the field: Surviving Rwandans
America didn’t even expect
any oil, diamonds, ivory, or slaves
in return…
BUT then I woke Up

    Dear Sis. Myeisha,
I am sending this note to “help a Sister out.”
On the broadcast 7/3, you stated that Africa was “a country.” There are over 40 separate countries on the “continent” of Africa.
I love the show and I am a faithful listener.
    Keep up the good work.
