As this Sunday rapidly approaches, I admit that I have been on a roller coaster ride of emotions. When Myisha and I first got the news that our show was going to be cancelled; I was very disappointed and sad. We really put our hearts and souls into Faith In Action. To be very honest, every week I looked forward to doing the radio show more than I did going to church. WEAA was my outlet. A place for me to direct my creative side, sharpen my intellectual side, and meet so many great people whose faces I have never seen.
After the season of disappointment, I was like, “Hey, I need a break anyway so good….here’s my break”. You must understand that I have been waking up at 4am for the past 5 years to do the show. It’s a strictly volunteer position and as I’ve told many people the payment is having the capability to speak to thousands of people at one time and to hear what the community has to say about certain issues. But the wear and tear of my weekly schedule can be challenging at times so I figured with the radio show being over – I could sleep in on Sundays at least until 6:45am.
But now – as our last show is just 2 days away I don’t know how to feel. I’m a bit anxious and at the same time….I don’t know. I loved being on the radio. Not because I was trying to be some local celebrity or something, but because I love COMMUNITY! And Faith In Action feels like a FAMILY MEETING every week. We get calls from everywhere and from people we didn’t even know listened to the show.
What I do know is that I’m encouraged by the number of “comments” on our blogger. Dialogue is so important.
