No Church Conferences for Baltimore in 2006!

So yesterday on the show, I raised the question – Can Baltimore Churches agree to not hold any church conferences for 2006 and use the money saved to support community organizations, our school system or other initiatives?

You’ll be surprised at what people said. Listen here.

I think the idea is great and would be the thing to do, however in this city, state, or day in age it won’t happen. Us stopping conferences is a community mind set when sadly we have a self mind set and not community. Everyone or the larger body of people are more focused on self increasing their self, getting their break thur, and breaking their generational curses, instead of helping my Brother or Sister so we can grow and build together. Just my thought …. Blessings…

    Just a few thoughts…..

Do you really see NO VALUE in conferences? I will grant you that the
conference thing is outta hand. Stuff like “Supersize Me” is just dumb
and pointless. It wastes value time and resources to elevate a precious
few. Most are no longer even creative. it’s the same 10 preachers
preaching rehashed word most of the time.

HOWEVER!!!! Do you really see NO VALUE? There are so many people
strayed for a word because they have jack leg preachers who spend no
time in study and basically rape the text every Sunday to get a few
amens. What of those, like myself, stuck in the country who long to
know there are others that are doing something real and life altering?
What of those who simply need to be removed for the situation, even if
just for a weekend, so they can God plan for deliverance in their
    lives?

I agree we spend too time focusing on the conference. I even agree
with the caller that suggested the conference is a place to get “New
Money”. I thought I had escaped the bullshit (excuse me) when I left
the National Baptist Convention, only to find even more bullshit in
Full Gospel (excuse me again). I was fed up with the 8 offerings at
Manpower. Really pissed about the direction they took the Minister’s
Conference at Hampton. Thoroughly angry at My state and local
conventions for ignoring the realities of ministry, but I refuse to
give up on the idea. We HAVE to be stronger together than we are apart.
The system needs overhauled, but I don’t think it needs to be scrapped.

    My two cents.

The church is not a place for community programs??!!! What Bible has that lady been reading? Or has she actually read the Bible for herself or just sharing whatever she has heard or thinks?

Can our conferences have a real follow-up? Service prong? Action to back up the talk? If it’s not just a bunch of talk…maybe they may be worth attending.

I think the conferences are truly a blessing to the Body of Christ. They provide an experience for Christians all over the world to worship God together in the same sanctuary. And when did Christian start to curse so much and say excuse me to justify this what has come out of their mouth. Is this a Christian board or what. My goodness you sound like the world. We are suppose to look different, sound different, and speak differently. What that kind of mouth how can you draw the lost souls to Christ. If you haven’t realized, we are put on a pedal stool by the world. Most of them respect us, until we show them different. They see us as pure, we have a light. But if we are going around cursing, looking, and acting like the world then how can we stand out. No offense to you, but I say this in love. My sister or brother please get it together. Time is running out. There is no time to be undeliver from a curse word. There are many other ways to get your point across than cursing. Think about it my sisters and brothers God wants to use us miracuously, but He can’t use us if we can’t keep pure words coming out of our mouths even in frustration or anger. Hold your tongue if you don’t have anything nice or right to say out of your mouth. Peace and love to you my sister.
