A fitting 1 Year Anniversary gift

My favorite friend from South America knows how much I love books so over the Christmas holiday season she blessed me with a Barnes andNobles Gift Certificate. (muchas gracias mi amiga) I held on to it for 3 months because I didn’t know what book to use it on, but this weekend I decided it was time to spend it. It is after all the 1 year anniversary of this blog.

That’s right – for 1 year I have been analyzing, criticizing, motivating, contemplating, telling stories, stressing action, expounding on dissatisfaction with the nation and the church, proclaimed my triumphs and my hurts, and I’m still here 1 year later rallying those who’ll do the work!

This blog really began to receive the lionshare of my creative and critical energy after I was asked to leave the platform of a local public radio station. Never one to go quietly into the night, I concluded that if I would have no voice on the radio station platform then I would build my own platform. This blog has served as a stage for me to voice a contrary opinion to the opinion and perspectives of the status quo…to challenge public opinion…to respond to injustice (local/national/international)…to cultivate questions in the minds of those who too quickly follow the footsteps of the crowd…to rally the freedom-loving activists of the globe and create a sense of community.

So my friends, I used the Barnes and Noble gift certificate on Saturday figuring that it was time to take this platform to the next level. While walking through the aisles of the bookstore I found this book.

BINGO! The MOST HIGH has done it again. Let me go find my tools. It’s time to build a new platform. Stay tuned and get ready for another very exciting year.
