Israel blasts capital of Lebanon with “shock and awe”

The violence between Israel and Hizbollah is unacceptable. Period. In my view, both Hizbollah and Israel share the blame. However, I cannot ignore the disproportionate amount of carnage that Israel is enforcing upon Lebanon.

With its vicious attaks on Palestine and now its daily bombings in Lebanon, Israel is looking more and more like the bully of the Middle East. One of the most disparaging elements of this violence is that the Lebanese Government’s calls for UN Intervention are falling on deaf ears. The Lebanese Government clearly wants an end to the violence, but Israel is totaling disregarding this. They continue to bomb Lebanon often times killing civilians and destabilizing societal infrastructure. One must question why Israel is bombing ports, gas stations, schools, and private homes, and tv stations in Lebanon.

Israel is continually challenging UN intervention. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is opposes an international peace keeping force. Olmert doesn’t want peace.

The disgusting thing about all of this is that Israel is given a free pass to challenge international law and continue to destabilize another country. Bush is too much of a coward to assign any level of blame to Israel and how could he? Did not Bush lead Americans in its own “shock and awe” campaign in Iraq?

If Israel is not challenged and put in check my the international community then the United Nations will forever be a joke, the United States will appear to be complicit in the destabilization of Lebanon and Iraq (The U.S. vetoed a UN resolution calling for an end to the violence in the Middle East), and the bonds between Syria, Lebanon, and Iran will grow even stronger as they face the Goliath of the super power countries of the world.

Sorry, Reverend – I’m not praying for the peace of Jerusalem today. I’m praying for the peace of Lebanon.

By the way – what’s so wrong with negotiating with Hizbollah on their demands. They want to exchange prisoners. They’ll release the Israeli soldiers if Israel releases Lebanese prisoners in its jails. I’m sure that Israel has far more Lebanese people in its jails than Hizbollah has Israelis.

Do not rely on mainstream (read: government sponsored) American media to teach you about Hizbollah. Watch Fox News if you want, but also gather information from alternative news sources like Democracy Now and Left Turn Magazine.

Let’s see. Hezollah kidnaps soldiers from the Israeling side of the border. Hezbollah fires missiles into civilian centers in Israel. Israel demands the return of their soldiers, and Hazbollah refuses.

Israel then attacks the centers of Hezbollah activities.

And somehow, Israel is no different than Hezbollah and they are both wrong.

I assume that is a man was raping your wife and used enough force to not only stop him but to seriously injure him, you were both wrong.

No. He was wrong to attempt to rape your wife. You were RIGHT to use any means to stop him.

Melvin – take a chill pill and start doing some research on what’s going on from multiple sources…then come to your own conclusion (not Fox News’ conclusion)

If after you do some research, you come to the same conclusion that you started with then hey – I have nothing to say…but don’t regurgitate what commercial media says and claim that perspective as your own.
