I got a call from Rodney last week. He was contacted by a friend of his who was asking about who he should vote for on Sept. 12th in the Maryland Primary Election and in November for our General Election. Rodney called me because he hadn’t been following politics himself so he didn’t know. I sent Rodney a message basically saying that his friend should take it upon himself to do some research and find out who he should vote for. I directed him to the League of Women Voters 2006 Voter’s Guide.
The truth of the matter is there are enough forums, newspaper articles, and radio interviews going on for everyone to be educated about the candidates and the issues. In this age of information overload, if anyone doesn’t know what’s going on with these politicians and what their core messages are, it’s because they choose to be ignorant. I don’t mean that to be harsh, but our world and local communities are facing some tough challenges. Political apathy and/or ignorance only contributes to our downward spiral.Â
That request did get me thinking though and convinced me that it’s time to make some concrete decisions about who I’m voting for.   Below you will find my endorsements for political office: (only on races that pertain directly to my political representation)
- For U.S. Senate: Kweisi Mfume (Democratic Party)

- For State Senator: Joan Carter Conway (D-43)
