Thanks to the Presbyterian Church

I just wanted to publicy thank the Presbytery of Baltimore for inviting me to be a panelist at their April 2007 meeting which focused on the issue of urban violence.Â
I served on the panel along with representatives from Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore City Police Department, and the Baltimore Public School System.
Being the baptist that I am, I got right “preachy” that night, but the crowd of presbyterians - who I’ve heard jokingly referred to as ”the frozen chosen” - seemed quite “baptistic” themselves offering “amens” and affirming head nods.Â
To their credit, the Baltimore Presbytery has decided to devote resources and people power to the issue of urban violence. I extend myself to them knowing that without a collective effort we will experience little progress.
One of my more recent articles entitled, “Embracing Right Relationships in a Violent Society” was published in the summer 2007 edition of Discipleship - their denominational newsletter.
