<description>Our hearts go out to each one of Ken Harrises surviving family members, friends and colleagues at a time when there has been yet another perplexing, confusing, unnecessary and senseless loss of life, my community grieves with yours. The condition that has taken up residence in our neighborhoods from coast to coast is difficult to fathom, yet somehow its very circumstance must be turned around and made to give meaning to Ken’s life and the lives of all others whose legacy has been left behind.

A rejoinder: Just as death has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal, we must see this and all other things through ’the eyes of God’, keeping in mind that God ‘permitted his only begotten Son to be bruised for each one of us’. And the bruising of Christ had ultimate and eternal consequences, the latter resulting in many turning away from evil and instead looking to the cross. May Ken’s homegoing and all of those who have been needlessly struck down in a similar manner have the same effect!

And finally, we must ask God what can be done by us his arms, his feet, his legs, his Temples, and his mouthpieces on Earth (in order to prevent the shadow of death and the ever present aspect of death that surrounds us, from having ultimate victory in our communities and in our lives)?

<description>It saddens me to hear about the senseless violence taking the life of a fellow Morgan graduate. As a former Morgan student of the 70&#039;s, I remember walking up to Northwood Shopping Center on Monday night football to purchase a keg of beer at the Haven. Over the years, this neighborhood has deteriorated and black of black violence is out of control. My condolences go out to former Councilman Kenneth N. Harris family.
