So I’ve been holding this one pretty close to my chest…for like 9 months! But in the words of Niecy Nash – It’s reveal day: My wife and I are having a baby! I’m going to be a FATHER! While most of this has been reserved for my personal offline journal; I have been marveling in the awesome power of God through this whole experience. The fact that God partners with woman to bring forth new life is such a miraculous thing to me.
I wish I could write more, but it’s time to go – NOW! Please pray family!
7:34AM UPDATE: Doc said walk for 2 hours. We’ve done the first 60 minutes around the hospital grounds. Contractions coming very regular and strong. Wife is doing wonderful. Husband is okay.
12:00NOON UPDATE: After 2 hours of walking and 90 minutes of waiting, we were moved to the birthing suite. Momma’s contractions are still coming regularly and she’s dialated to about 3 centimeters. We’ve been up since 3AM so we’re both pretty tired. I just got back from lunch and now it’s nap time in the Brown suite. We’re digging in for the long haul. G’night.
4:13 UPDATE: Dialation status is about the same and the nurse tells us that technically we’re still in early labor – try telling that to Mrs. Brown! Baby Brown’s head is moving down very nicely, but we still have much time yet. Mrs. Brown is doing great! Husband is focused, reserved, and conserving energy.
11:30PM UPDATE: The most fascinating thing happened tonight at 6:36PM – Heber M. Brown, IV was born. Praise God! I won’t even attempt to wrap words around this experience right now. I’m just going to enjoy it. My wife and son are sleeping now. It’s time for dad to follow their example. Thank you all so much for your prayers, well-wishes and great advice. I’ll check back in with you all in a few days.

And by you being a warrior in the struggle and I know you are prepared to handle anything from your moment of ultimate joy being the strong, righteous brother you are…, take a bit of advice from a semi-old schooler, after your blessing arrives and the doctor gives you an out for a couple of minutes….take it. Walk slow, go get you a soda and then come back. Men have no idea of all of that the birthing process entails. Until you get squared away with your family’s precious cargo and many years after that, may protection be upon you and yours.
Congrats man, as one whose wife just had twins, it is a great experience, one that you will never forget. God is good…..all the time.
