DEATH PENALTY REPEAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MARYLAND CITIZENS AGAINST STATE EXECUTIONS
On Tuesday morning, March 3rd, the Maryland General Assembly will go into session and debate the fate of the death penalty in Maryland. Capital Punishment in Maryland has been proved to be ineffective in deterring violent crime, racially biased in application, more expensive than the sentence of life without the option of parole and is capable of executing an innocent life.
We need you to email the following senators to ask them to vote in favor of the repeal of Maryland’s death penalty. (Especially those who live in their districts) Tell them, it’s time to be truly responsible about violence and moral about life and the law.
Sen. Mike Miller (Calvert & PG Co.)
Sen. Edward Kasemeyer (Balt. & Howard Co.)
Sen. Bobby Zirkin (Baltimore Co.)
Sen. George Della (Baltimore City)
Sen. Robert Garagiola (Montgomer Co.)
Sen. James Rosapepe (PG & Anne Arundel Co.)
Sen. Bryan Simonaire (Anne Arundel Co.)
The death penalty has been in existence since 1978 and it is has been an irresponsible usage of public funds. We had been deceived each time it has been said to make us safer, each time it was said to be cheaper and each time we were told that it is used to bring justice to victims’ families. The proof of it’s failure is in and the testimonies of families continue to come forward. It’s time to repeal the death penalty. Tell your senator, it’s time to do it today.

I also found this interesting article on CNN about how other states are reconsidering the Death Penalty because of budgetary concerns.
