Black Men Stand For Peace At Stop The Violence Rally
It was my honor on June 2, 2012 to participate in a Stop The Violence Rally and Celebrity Basketball Game at Cloverdale Courts. Many people who I have been working alongside and supportive of for years where there to add their voice to the chorus for peace including Bro. Jabari from Conscious Heads Barbershop & RealitySpeaks Bookstore, Min. Farajii Muhammad, Yo Slick a.k.a. Ohh of BrownF.I.S.H., Adam Jackson from Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle, Councilman Nick Mosby and many more.
The event was hosted by Ian Yearwood’s SwaggNation, Inc. and featured a celebrity basketball game with Kurk Lee and Sam Cassell as honorary coaches for the Stop the Violence Basketball Game at the brand new, state of the art, Cloverdale Basketball Court 2500 McCollough Street Baltimore, MD (across from Druid Hill Park).
SwaggNation, Inc., is a youth empowerment organization in Baltimore that created this event to bring awareness to the general public, especially young people, about the problem of interpersonal violence in the Baltimore metropolitan area.
The goal of this event was geared towards bringing awareness to the general public, especially young people, about the problem of violence in the Baltimore metropolitan are.
I’ve literally participated in hundreds of rallies like this in Baltimore trying to spread the message of peace and no matter how many I attend, I never tire of being involved. You never know what young person is going to be there, hear, and receive the message you give. You also never know what connections will be made that will help somebody along their journey.
